Shopify's recently released Winter Edition '24 featured more than 100 updates focused on e-business growth.

Each company is a case in itself, characterized by specificities and individual challenges, which makes the application of universal strategies and solutions impracticable. To address this diversity, Shopify rolls out more than 100 targeted updates every six months, designed to fit the needs of businesses of all sizes.

In this sea of new features, we highlight the most relevant for each section, guiding you through the choices best suited to you.

CONVERSION

  • Product attributes: pre-packaged metafiles that can be associated with each product category, useful for presenting products with the correct information, making them easily identifiable by visitors on the site, on the marketplace and on search engines. The merchant will thus have more than 2000 product variants thanks to the API update. Furthermore, for the Shopify Plus merchant, through the combinedlist app you will be able to show a product in all colors, each with its own gallery of multimedia content and dedicated URL, all in a single listing.
  • Semantic search:  the use of Artificial Intelligence allows you to carry out increasingly precise searches in digital stores, interpreting the words and expressions used by customers and going beyond the simple matching of keywords. In this way, AI proves capable of understanding the context and nuances of language, offering a more advanced and personalized search experience for users.
  • Shopify Subscriptions – Through the free app you can manage your subscriptions from your Shopify control panel. Easily set up and manage subscriptions directly from your Shopify admin, and allow customers to change or ignore subscription orders directly from their accounts.

CHANNELS

  • What's new for B2B (only on Shopify Plus)
  • New staff permissions to limit sales reps' access to order and customer information only in their specific accounts.
  • Headless solutions to create personalized and flexible shopping experiences for business customers.
  • With Trade, let customers easily place orders in bulk using new quick order features.
  • Improved checkout: The checkout operation is now customizable via app-based changes, offering flexible and secure upgrades, seamlessly integrated with Shop Pay. With this feature, you can personalize the entire buyer journey, from the checkout process to order completion. There are currently over 90 new apps designed for checkout extensibility, enabling features like upselling, loyalty programs, and post-purchase surveys.

MARKETING

  • Retargeting: Shopify Plus features more effective retargeting with advanced algorithms and improvements to custom lists in version 2.2. This unique feature allows merchants to double the size of their retargeting audiences.
  • Shopify Collabs: introduces new filters to easily identify digital creators on the main social platforms, automatic payments for easy management of commissions and immediate consultation of statistics on their activities with a simple click.

OPERATIONS

  • AI for texts and images: you can easily retouch product images, without being a developer: an excellent tool for brands that want to enhance visual merchandising with minimal effort. Plus you can ask Shopify Magic to write an “About Us” or “Frequently Asked Questions” page, to strengthen the trust placed by your customers.
  • Shopify Lending: Shopify provides the merchant with an even more personalized and predictable financing solution, with fixed payments over a set repayment period. Additionally, the Shopify Line of Credit will be introduced, offering merchants flexible, on-demand financing whenever they need it.

DEVELOPER

  • New thematic blocks in preview: eliminate repetitive operations, define blocks only once and reuse them in all sections. You have the ability to nest up to eight levels for advanced design control. Now you can edit and rearrange the layout with ease, without the need to make large changes in the code. Plus, pre-configured, ready-to-use theme blocks will let you customize on your own.
  • Privacy management: via backoffice it is possible to modify the cookie banner for privacy management. For example, from today you can request privacy consent on checkout and store data.
